Accounting Intern

Overview

The Accounting Intern will gain practical, hands-on experience supporting accounts receivable and general accounting functions. This role assists with billing, account reconciliations, research, and administrative processes while learning core accounting operations in a fast-paced, professional environment. The position offers exposure to financial systems, reporting, and cross-departmental collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with basic account reconciliations and review of financial transactions for accuracy

  • Support billing processes, including preparing invoices and related correspondence

  • Help research and resolve account discrepancies and payment issues

  • Respond to internal and external inquiries in a professional manner

  • Compile data, maintain records, and update electronic and hard-copy files

  • Perform data entry and maintain organized financial documentation

  • Generate reports and assist with tracking and summarizing financial information

  • Support accounts payable and accounts receivable functions as needed

  • Operate standard office equipment including scanning and copying documents

  • Collaborate with team members and other departments to obtain and verify information

  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field

  • Basic understanding of accounting principles and financial concepts

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities

  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced setting

  • Previous office, customer service, or accounting experience is a plus

Work Schedule

  • Part-time during academic terms and/or full-time during breaks

  • Flexible scheduling based on business needs and academic commitments

Physical & Work Environment

  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods while working at a computer

  • Frequent use of hands for operating office equipment

  • Ability to lift or carry up to 20 pounds occasionally

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy and professionalism
